Data Catalog

This course walks through connecting ThoughtSpot to external data catalogs — including Alation, Atlan, and Collibra — so that trusted metadata from those systems surfaces directly inside ThoughtSpot's Search Data experience.

You will see how each catalog acts as the external source of truth for data documentation, while ThoughtSpot simply displays that governance context without duplicating it.

Each of the three lessons follows a consistent structure: understanding the integration's role in governance, identifying required permissions and credentials, configuring the connection and sync schedule, managing what appears on knowledge cards, and  monitoring syncs. Along the way, you will see how to:

• Choose between authentication methods, such as Service Account or token-based access
• Select which metadata fields (descriptions, verification status) sync into ThoughtSpot
• Use the informational panel to control column- and table-level display on knowledge cards
• Understand sync status for a connected catalog

By the end of the course, you will be equipped to set up and maintain any of ThoughtSpot's supported data catalog integrations.

Please note this course is optional for earning the Data Expert badge. If you do not plan to use a data catalog integration with ThoughtSpot, you may choose to skip this course in the learning path.
