About this course

The spreadsheet editor in Analyst Studio lets you work with any tabular data the way you would in a traditional spreadsheet tool—without leaving your analytics environment.

In this course, you'll learn how to access the spreadsheet editor from a live SQL query, an existing dataset, or directly from the dataset creation workflow. You'll explore the full formatting toolbar to sort, filter, and style your data, and use formula expressions to build new calculated fields—without hitting your cloud data warehouse. Finally, you'll learn how to publish your edited datasets to the Data Workspace so they're available for your team to use in Models and AI-powered conversations.

This course covers:

  • Accessing the spreadsheet editor from live query results, existing datasets, and the dataset editor
  • Navigating the spreadsheet formatting toolbar: advanced sorts formatting, color schemes, column sizing, and data filters
  • Adding calculated fields using the toolbar button, the Insert Function menu, and the column header caret menu
  • Writing formula expressions to create new derived columns
  • Renaming and reordering columns in a spreadsheet
  • Publishing datasets—including calculated fields—to the Data Workspace for use in Models and with Spotter
